Phillies Place Cliff Lee On 60-Day Disabled List

The Philadelphia Phillies say they have placed pitcher Cliff Lee on the 60-day disabled list due to a left forearm strain.

According to the Phillies, Lee has tried to rehabilitate the injury twice, but the attempts have been unsuccessful. Surgery has been recommended, but would put Lee out for the 2015 season. The Phillies and Lee have decided to try to rehabilitate the injury non-operatively once again.

Over the 60-day period, Lee will be sent home to rest and will start a rehabilitation program. Lee will be brought to Philadelphia periodically to be evaluated. The hope is that Lee will be able to return during the 2015 season.
