Mother, 3 children killed by carjacked SUV remembered

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Friends and family gathered over the weekend to remember a mother and three children killed by a carjacked sport utility vehicle in north Philadelphia a year ago.

A memorial picnic was held Saturday in north Philadelphia at the spot where the SUV plowed into 34-year-old Keisha Williams and the children as they sold fruit on a street corner for a church fundraiser.

Fifteen-year-old Keiearra Williams, 10-year-old Thomas Joseph Reed, and 7-year-old Terrance Moore were killed instantly. Their mother died two weeks later. A 70-year-old woman was injured. Two men are awaiting trial on murder and other charges.

Organizers said they wanted to mark the one-year anniversary of the tragedy with something enjoyable for the community rather than something somber. Bounce houses, food, and music were donated by community agencies.
