Chris Rock to Host the Oscars

Chris Rock will return for a second stint as host of the Academy Awards, the producers of the telecast announced Wednesday.

Rock earlier hosted the show in 2005. Neil Patrick Harris hosted the show this year.

"Chris Rock is truly the MVP of the entertainment industry," David Hill and Reginald Hudlin, producers of the Oscar show, said in a statement. "Comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, documentarian - he's done it all. He's going to be a phenomenal Oscar host!"

Rock, known in the earlier part of his career as a standup comedian and for his stints on Saturday Night Live and In Living Color, has starred in and directed numerous films, including last year's well-received Top Five. Most recently, he directed Amy Schumer's HBO special.
