Star Wars: Episode VIII Delayed to Late 2017

Bad news for 'Star Wars' fans: They'll have to wait an additional seven months for one of the upcoming movies.

"Stars Wars: Episode VIII" will now come out December 15, 2017, after it was previously scheduled for May 26 of that year, Variety reported. The change isn't unheard of; "The Force Awakens," currently in theaters, was originally supposed to come out last May but was also delayed until December.

In the meantime, the first "standalone" Star Wars film, "Rogue One," is still on track to come out this December. And even with the delay, fans will only have to wait two years between episodes VII and VIII. During both previous Star Wars trilogies, the films were released three years apart.
