Souderton Area High School recognized by Special Olympics

A Montgomery County school is receiving a major honor Thursday after they crowned two special needs students homecoming king and queen!

Souderton Area High School is the first in Pennsylvania to be recognized as one of the Special Olympics' National Banner Unified Champion Schools.

Last month, two special needs students at Souderton were crowned homecoming king and queen by their peers.

Kevin Lezynski and Karly Ditlow were named king and queen during the homecoming football game between Souderton Area High School and William Tennent High School back in October.

Both Kevin and Karly are active members of the Unified Bocce team, Unified Track and Field team as well as with the annual spring musical.

Students at the game erupted in cheers when the two were crowned.

Thursday the school's spirit of inclusion at Souderton was being celebrated with a pep rally. FOX 29's Iain Page stopped by the pep rally during Good Day Philadelphia. Check out the sights and sounds from the gym in the video above.
