Palos Verdes, CA (WTXF) A little girl is paralyzed from the waist down after a freak accident occurred when she was doing a backbend.
Eden Hoelsher, 5, was performing a simple bridge last December, when she suddenly collapsed in pain. Her mother, Kaylee Hoelsher, thinking that this was nothing serious, gathered her daughter in her arms and took her to bed in hopes of calming her down, the Daily Mail reports.
Thirty minutes later, Kaylee realized something was wrong when her daughter commented that she felt like her feet were asleep. When prompted by her mother to move her feet, the little girl realized that she could not.
According to the Daily Mail, Eden was immediately rushed to the hospital where the family was told that she was paralyzed from the waist down. The little girl’s back bend had hyper-extended her spine causing the artery that feeds her spinal cord to cease pumping blood, causing a stroke.
Eden is now confined to a wheelchair. However, according to her parents and the doctors at the hospital, that has done nothing to stop Eden from being her bubbly self. The five-year- old is said to have been doing wheelies before she even left the hospital, earning herself the nickname ‘Daredevil Eden’.
Although Eden is now living with the challenges of being paralyzed, however, her doctors say that if anyone is able to recover from this it is Eden, giving the family some much needed hope in this trying time.
