Man struck and killed by SEPTA train near Bridesburg station

SEPTA has confirmed that one person has died following an accident that took place Wednesday morning in Philadelphia.

The incident occurred on the 6000 block of Keystone Street just before 8 a.m. on the southbound side of Bridesburg Train Station. SEPTA Train #9724 was headed to Center City at the time of the accident.

A 42-year-old man was hit by the SEPTA Regional Rail train. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 8:25 a.m.

Inbound service to Center City on SEPTA's Trenton Line is operating with delays of up 10 minutes. Outbound service to Trenton is operating on or close to schedule.

The incident remains under investigation.
