1 killed in Camden fire, elderly couple rescued by Rutgers Camden students

One person has died, and two others were saved by local college students after a fire broke out in Camden, New Jersey.

Flames broke out at a home near 2nd and Cooper Streets, across the street from a high rise dorm at the Rutgers Camden campus.

Witnesses tell FOX 29's Steve Keeley students from the school ran across the street, broke down a door, and successfully rescued an elderly couple who had lived in the home.

Firefighters say the couple's adult son, a man in his 50s, died in the fire.

Rutgers student Ryan Prada shared video of flames bursting from the home just after midnight Friday morning.

The condition of the couple who was saved from the fire is not yet known. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
