10-year-old shot in stomach in Chester, 17-year-old taken in for questioning

Chester Police are investigating a shooting that left a 10-year-old boy with stomach wounds.

The incident occurred around 1:05 p.m. Saturday at West 7 th and Engle Street. Police responded to the area after hearing reports of a young victim down.

When officers arrived to the scene, they saw the 10-year-old victim being cared for by a Good Samaritan on the 3000 block of West 3rd Street.

The boy was transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center where he is in stable condition.

Police received several 911 calls directing them to the direction in which the alleged gunman had run off, as well as his clothing description.

A 17-year-old Chester resident was taken into custody around the area of Community Hospital where they also recovered a weapon.
