One person rescued from apartment building fire in Camden

Camden, NJ (WTXF)  Firefighters remained on the scene several hours after intense fire ripped through a three story wood building on north 26th and Cramer Street in Camden Thursday night. They were dousing flames that continued to reignite throughout the evening. Skyfox flew over earlier as flames shot from the roof.

"A lot of fire flares. They would put one out then they would break the windows out then another would come. It was a real bad one at the top when we first came. Then it looked like it was getting better then all of a sudden it got real bad," said Joy Duckett.

Neighbors say the building has apartment units and a business on the front.  They watched as thick smoke billowed from the building.

A spokesperson for Camden Metro Police said one person was rescued and taken to Cooper Hospital.  Duckett says she saw them bring out the man.

"He was sitting on the ground. I can't say he was burned. it was like he had really bad smoke stains on him but he couldn't talk or anything," she said.

The was under control at 9:15. Investigators are still looking into the cause.
