Police search for man wanted for throwing bottle at Ryan Howard

- Police have released a description of the man at Saturday’s Phillies game who reportedly threw a beer bottle at Ryan Howard.

They say the man is white, 30-35 years old, with a medium build and reddish brown hair. He was wearing a blue Phillies hat with a red brim, a gray Phillies jersey with red writing on the front, and faded red shorts.

The incident happened at Citizen's Bank Park at the end of Saturday’s game, just after 6:30pm, while Howard was walking to the dugout.

Police had reviewed video to identify the person who threw the aluminum beer bottle.

Howard was not hit and nobody was injured.

After, the man “left the game on his own, without being stopped or ejected by Phillies security.”

According to police, the Phillies’ director of security reported the incident at about 12:45p.m. Sunday, and the investigation is active.

"I've done too much in this town to have that kind of stuff," Howard told reporters prior to Sunday's game. "If you want to yell out ... that's whatever. But when you start throwing stuff, that's when stuff gets personal."

Phillies slugger Ryan Howard told Fox29's Bruce Gordon he appreciates the support of Phillies fans calling for justice, after a man was caught on video throwing a beer bottle at the struggling slugger.

"I do take it personal(ly)," when someone throws a bottle, Howard told reporters before the Phillies Hosted the Cubs Monday night.

A still photo of the suspected "thrower" went viral on social media, leading the team to check their closed circuit TV feed. Director of Operations/Security Sal Deangelis says the footage shows the man in the photo throwing the bottle. That video has been forwarded to Philadelphia police, who are investigating the incident.
The incident could lead to a citation for disorderly conduct.

Howard, who hasn't started the last several games, was used as a pinch hitter with two outs in the ninth inning on Saturday. He grounded out to the pitcher to end the game.
