Homeless man avoiding the rain attacked with rocks inside bank: Cops

- A man trying to stay dry from the rain is attacked and ends up in the hospital. Police released surveillance video of the brutal, repeated attack and are asking for help catching the people who did it.

It happened late on May 29. It was raining. The victim, who is homeless, sought shelter inside the vestibule of a TD Bank in South Philadelphia.

That’s when police say he was tormented by two young men. They pelted the victim with rocks – then left, returned and did it some more. Eventually, they got away from the 2600 block of S. 5th Street in an unknown direction.

The victim had to be taken to the hospital in stable condition. He was treated for minor cuts to his head and neck pain.

The attackers are simply described as young men wearing dark hooded sweatshirts.

If you recognize either or know where they are, you’re asked to call 215-686-TIPS (8477), text a tip to PPDTIP (773847), or click here to submit a tip anonymously. Police say all tips will be confidential.
