Officer shot 7 times out of surgery, full recovery expected

- The Folcroft police officer shot seven times while responding to a call, Friday morning, is now stable and talking after surgery. In fact, he’s expected to make a full recovery.

Police tell FOX 29 that Officer Christopher Dorman, 25, could be released from the hospital in the next five days.

Investigators say he was shot seven times. One of those bullets hit him in the face. It entered his nose and exited his cheek. He was also hit in the leg and groin. Luckily, he was wearing his bulletproof vest.

A fund raised has already raised $11,000 to help with his recovery.

Dorman was born and raised in Folcroft. He actually lives in the same house where he grew up, and serves as a volunteer firefighter.

He was responding to a report of people smoking pot when he was shot.

Donte Island, 33, is charged with two counts of attempted murder and aggravated assault.

He's also accused of firing at a second officer.

A prayer vigil is set for 8pm Saturday at Borough Hall.
