Toddler in Utah rescued from hot car

- An 18 month old girl was trapped in her mother’s car, outside her grandmother’s house in Utah on Monday.

It was 78 degrees outside, but it was close to 100 degrees inside the car. The doors of the car were locked and the keys were inside, but the girl didn’t know how to unlock the door.

Logan Police Officer Matt Woods was the first to arrive on the scene, and told the mother, Alma Zamarripa, that she needed to wait for another officer with equipment to unlock the door or he could break the window.

The mother eventually gave Officer Woods a hammer, and although Officer Woods cut his hand, the girl was successfully rescued.

The toddler was treated by paramedics at the scene, and is going to be ok.
