17-year-old turns himself in to police in Rittenhouse shooting

A 17-year-old male turned himself in to police around 4:00 A.M. for a shooting that happened in Rittenhouse on Tuesday.

Police say the juvenile was accompanied by his father.

The incident occurred just before 10:00 P.M. near Walnut Street and South 19th Street on Tuesday. According to police, a 39-year-old cyclist got off his bike to try to stop an armed robbery when he was shot and killed. Police say the boy grabbed the gun from a co-conspirator and shot the cyclist in the chest, torso and shoulder.
