DARIEN, IL- Police in Illinois say they are investigating a possible hate crime, after a Sikh American man was attacked on Tuesday.
Police say Inderjit Singh Mukker was on his way to the grocery store that night, when he pulled over to let an aggressive driver pass.
Instead of passing, the driver of the vehicle got out of his car, and allegedly began yelling racial slurs at Mukker, and telling him to "go back to his country."
The Sikh coalition says the man then attacked Mukker, punching him in the face until he passed out.
The suspect has been arrested, and Mukker has since been released from the hospital.
According to the Indian Express, Mukker is a U.S. Citizen.
