Villanova officials investigate race-related campus assault

- Officials at Villanova University and Radnor Police are investigating an incident in which a black female student was assaulted by a group of white males, running towards her chanting President-elect Donald Trump’s name.

According to a university source, the incident occurred Thursday night. The student was reportedly walking through a SEPTA tunnel on campus.

At that time, she came across multiple white males who allegedly ran toward her chanting “Trump, Trump, Trump!”, the university source confirmed.

One male forcefully knocked her to the ground, and caused her to hit her head.

Police say the student was not seriously injured, but was shaken by the incident.

Villanova University issued a statement on the incident:

“Villanova’s Public Safety Department received a concerning report of an incident that occurred in the SEPTA tunnel between its West Campus and Main Campus Thursday evening. Upon learning of the incident last night, Public Safety launched an immediate investigation and contacted Radnor Police.

“The University finds this conduct deplorable and considers this racist behavior that runs completely counter to our values. Actions such as this will simply not be tolerated at Villanova. Those found responsible for such reprehensible behavior will face serious consequences for their actions and will be disciplined appropriately.

“The safety and security of our students is always our primary concern. It is at times like this when we must come together in solidarity as a community against such actions.”
