Local librarian celebrates 100th birthday

- A local librarian is reaching a milestone. She is turning 100 years old and celebrating in a big way.

Edith Kutcher still works as a volunteer librarian at Klein Life in Northeast Philadelphia. She turns 100 tomorrow. Friends gathered at Klein Life to wish her a very special happy birthday with some cake and flowers.

Here's what the retired stenographer says is the secret to longevity, "What keeps me going are books I think I'll be buried with them."

A West Philadelphia native, she is a retired stenographer who worked for many years at the Defense Industrial Supply Center on Robins Avenue in Philadelphia. She uses a walker;however, she is still blessed with a sharp mind and a good memory.  She has been part of the library for 40 years.
