LOGAN (WTXF) - A man is under arrest, two weeks after he allegedly singled out two men as victims and fired several shots, hitting both.
Police say surveillance video helped identify Keith Ballard as the suspect, and they arrested him on Friday. Keith Ballard, 32, is from the 7800 block of Bayard Street.
Back on Monday, Nov. 7, a 43-year-old victim had gotten out of a cab at Broad Street and Olney Avenue to meet a friend.
At about 11:15am, while waiting for the friend, he heard multiple gunshots and was struck in the back of his left leg.
The victim didn’t see who was shooting or know why he’d been targeted, but was taken to the hospital and listed in stable condition.
While there, a second victim -- a 29-year-old man -- was found.
He told police he was crossing near the 1300 block of W. Olney Avenue when he heard 2-4 gunshots and felt something hit the side of his head.
He noticed blood and walked to the hospital, where he was treated for a graze wound to the side of his head and listed in stable condition.
This victim also didn’t see who was shooting and didn’t know why anyone would targeted him.
Several schools -- Central High, Girls High, Howe School and Widener School -- were all placed on lockdown after the incident.
Surveillance video did catch a man walking west on Olney Avenue towards the 5600 block of N. Broad Street. Police said he was walking “through a crowd of people when he singles out the victims and fires several shots, then fled the area on foot and was last seen east on Olney Avenue then south on Chew Avenue.”
Ballard is now charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and REAP (recklessly endangering another person).
