Woman charged in hit and run that left boy, 12, with broken bones

- A woman is now under arrest for a hit and run crash that hurt a boy, earlier this month.

New Castle County police say Marsha Williams, 55, was responsible.

The accident happened on Dec. 5 in the New Castle community of Overview Gardens.

The 12-year-old victim had to be taken to the hospital with numerous broken bones.

Detectives learned he was hit by a dark-colored sedan while trying to cross the unit block of Memorial Drive. The driver got away towards Route 13.

Later, authorities released video of the suspect vehicle, a 2004-2010 red Chrysler 300 with the driver’s side mirror missing.

Since then, detectives say they found the car and determined Williams was driving it.

She turned herself in on Tuesday evening and is charged with leaving the scene of a collision resulting in injury, and failure to report a collision resulting in injury.

She was arraigned and released on her own recognizance.
