Father of escaped Bucks County prisoner arrested

- The search for an escaped prisoner in Bucks County has been suspended after authorities say they received information the suspect was aided in leaving the area.

Police say the escapee's father, Daniel Selby Sr., was arrested in Dolyestown Township Monday evening for aiding his son's escape.

Earlier Monday, police announced they were searching for 25-year-old Daniel Selby, and released photos of him. Selby was last wearing an orange shirt and jeans, and handcuffed in front.

Police say at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday night, a sheriff’s van was taking Selby to the Bucks County Prison on a failure to appear warrant, which is a low-level offense.

Apparently, there was a medical emergency. The van pulled over to the side. They let Selby out. He got loose from his leg shackles, pushed over a sheriff’s deputy, and ran across Bristol Road.

The shelter-in-place went into effect right away. Police activated reverse 911 calls to keep people in the area safe.

According to the Central Bucks School District:

“The Central Bucks School District has been communicating with local police authorities and currently a shelter-in-place is still being recommended.  Therefore, there will be no school in Central Bucks today, June 5, 2017.  The district administration will be communicating to the community as more information becomes available throughout the day.  Again, there is no school in Central Bucks School District today.”
