PHILADELPHIA, PA (WTXF) - A Philadelphia man has been charged for the murder of his 2-year-old son.
On Friday, July 14 around 1 p.m., Philadelphia Police responded to a radio call for a person screaming outside the 1600 block of North 57th Street. Upon their arrival, officers were met by the father of 2-year-old Bashir Mungin-Bass.
The father, later identified as 24-year-old Quadim Bass, told officers that he was playing video games when he heard a thump sound. He told officers he then realized that his son had fallen down the steps and was unresponsive.
At that time, Bass stated he performed CPR until officers arrived on the scene. Authorities transported the victim to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he was pronounced dead.
The cause of death was ruled blunt trunk extremity trauma to the body.
On Monday, July 17, Quadim Bass was charged with Murder and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
