I-95 southbound closures scheduled this week

- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced lane closures are scheduled this week on southbound I-95 from the Northeast to Center City on two dates and two locations.

First, from 9 p.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Tuesday, there will be a single lane closure at the Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange for barrier adjustments.

Then, midday Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., a single lane closure is scheduled at the Girard Avenue Interchange to place a concrete barrier.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

PennDOT says the work is part of the $211 million project to replace the northbound viaduct at the Girard Avenue Interchange, and the $160.2 million project to rebuild ramps and improve connections to and from I-95, Aramingo Avenue and the Betsy Ross Bridge.
