Police arrest owner of malnourished dog

FOX 5 News (WAGA) -- An Animal Control Officer in Georgia rescued a dog from her owner and charged him with aggravated cruelty to animals.

The animal control supervisor noticed a dog walking down the street with visible scars, bleeding and dog was as thin as a skeleton. The dog was a brown Doberman on a leash walking with a man.

The man told officers that the dog did not belong to him. Police also say he gave a false address and phone number.

The Doberman was taken to an animal clinic for treatment. A microchip was later found on the dog showing that the dog belonged to 53-year-old Gary Scott, the man officers found with the dog.

Scott was arrested for aggravated cruelty to animals and giving a false address. He was released from the Gwinnett County Detention Center on $125,000 bond.
