500 Pound Man Runs 5K Race Monthly with Inspirational Message

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Runner Derek Mitchell, weighing in at more than 500 pounds, has made a commitment to running a 5K once a month.

He said he doesn't run just to get in shape, but to inspire others to get in shape as well. So far, Mitchell has run in 19 5K races since March.

His message: "...It doesn't matter how big or slow, big or small or fast or slow that you are, that a finish is a finish. And that no matter how slow you go you are still lapping everybody who is still on the couch."

He's right..."No matter how slow you go you are still lapping everybody who is still on the couch."
