200 Women Say Celebrity-Endorsed WEN Products Made Their Hair Fall Out

(INSIDE EDITION)- WEN hair care products get a lot of publicity from celebrities, including Alyssa Milano, Brook Shields and Angie Harmon.

But the QVC staples are now the subject of a lawsuit filed by 200 women who claim the shampoos and conditioners caused their hair to fall out in clumps, leaving them with bald spots, scabs and burns on their heads.

The products, developed by star stylist Chaz Dean, are hawked on QVC and by TV personalities as the secret to luxurious, shiny hair.

But women are complaining in the suit, and on WEN’s Facebook page, that instead their scalps were burned and their hair fell out after using the conditioner.

“WEN, you have made my hair fall out by the handfuls,” wrote one poster.

“After just one use, I was left with burns and sores that left scabs in my hair,” wrote another.

Another woman told INSIDE EDITION that she lost 50% of her hair after regularly using WEN products.

The company, in a statement to IE, disputed those claims.

“There is no scientific evidence to support any claim that our hair care products caused anyone to lose their hair.  There are many reasons why individuals may lose their hair, all unrelated to WEN hair products,” the company said.

In a statement, the company says "there is no scientific evidence to support any claim” that the products caused anyone to lose their hair -- it vows to 'vigorously contest the allegations.''
