6 police officers shot in 3 U.S. cities, including Pa. state troopers

It was a violent night across the country with a reported six police officers shot in three different U.S. cities.

The first took place in Kissmmee, Florida where police say one officer was shot and killed and another was gravely injured in what police say might have been an ambush.

At a news conference Saturday morning, the police chief said the officers were checking out suspicious people in a known drug area around 9:30 p.m. Friday night when they were shot.

Three suspects are in custody and a fourth is still being sought.

The next shooting took place in Jacksonville, Florida where two other officers wer shot and wounded while responding to an attempted suicide call.

One officer was shot in both hands and a second officer was shot in the stomach, according to reports.

Both of the officers were allegedly shot with high-powered rifles.

Finally in Fairchance, Pennsylvania two state troopers are recovering in stable condition after a shooting at a convenience store.

The suspect in the shooting was killed, according to police.

Authorities say they do not believe the shootings are related in any way.
