SMYRNA, Ga. - A Smyrna woman is dealing with a mail delivery mystery after cards she sent two years ago were just received by loved ones over the weekend.
Fran Kington told FOX 5 News she mailed out nearly 20 thank you cards after her husband died in 2014. She said, at least seven of the recipients, received the messages Saturday.
“I could not believe it,” Kington said. “I thought that part was behind me but now I have to re-live it again.”
Kington's neighbor Vivian Hamlin was among the first to discover the disappointing delay. She brought over the card to Kington Saturday.
“I thought it was sweet but I didn't know because it was two years later. I didn't know exactly what to say,” Hamlin said.
FOX 5 News exchanged several emails Tuesday with the United States Postal Service.

We are in the business of delivering 155 billion piece of mail annually and strive to deliver every piece swiftly, safely and intact. However, we would need more specifics to address Ms. Kington’s issue. Regardless, it’s disappointing to hear that she or any of our valued customers failed to receive the service they expect from an agency committed to providing outstanding service.
