88-year-old woman found dead in Holland

Officials say no foul play is suspected in the death of an elderly woman found outside her home in Holland.

Police in Northampton Township say the 88-year-old woman's body was found around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday outside near an open back door of her home. Police were quickly called.

"For some reason, she exited the back of the house, fell and was unable to get up and expired outside of the residence," Northampton Police Chief Mike Clark said.

Police say the shower was running in her residence and night-clothing was found nearby.

According to police, the woman picked up her mail Monday afternoon and must of ventured into the cold last night or in the early morning.

"There's no indications of anyone entering the residence. The front door was secure, the back was unsecured where she excited," Chief Clark said.

Captain Clark asks neighbors and family members to check on the elderly--highly vulnerable to the elements.
