Apparent false alarm after unmarked car spotted at Dallas PD garage

A reported suspicious man and vehicle in a Dallas Police Department parking garage triggered a massive response Saturday afternoon.

A DPD spokesperson confirmed they searched their parking garage for a suspicious person Saturday afternoon. Sources told FOX 4 the suspicious vehicle reported by two employees was an undercover car that was unregistered in vehicle databases.

No suspect was found after police conducted a thorough search of the parking garage. A second sweep with K9 officers was also conducted as a precautionary measure.

There were reports of shots fired near DPD headquarters at the beginning of the increased police presence, but a DPD spokesperson later clarified no shots were fired at headquarters or the parking garage. SWAT officers set off a device to enter a locked fence that may have been confused with the sound of gunfire.

The Saturday afternoon incident came after sources said the Dallas Police Department received a threat about people coming in from Houston with intent to hurt officers.

A spokesperson for the department later confirmed, "The Dallas Police Department received an anonymous threat against law enforcement across the city and has taken precautionary measures to heightened security."
