Armed bank robbery turns into police-involved shooting in Salem County

Fulton Bank at Shell and Georgetown Road in Carneys Point was the scene of an armed bank robbery just before 5 p.m. Monday.

Carneys Point police say two men robbed the bank as a third suspect fled in a black Dodge. Police say half a mile away that get-a-way car was seen at J&J Carwash in Pennsgrove. Officers tried to stop the vehicle but say the driver tried to run over an officer who in turn fired at the car shooting the driver.

Skyfox flew over the car wash with several evidence markers on the ground.

All three suspects were caught. The two suspected of robbing the bank were caught on foot in a nearby neighborhood. Police say money and the gun used in the robbery have been found. One man who lives nearby says he was told to stay in the house.

"Cop going through my yard, wondering why a cop was in my yard walking through my driveway and there were people out talking about the bank being robbed. But it's a quiet area. It's very quiet back there," said Paul Bey.

Police did not say where the suspect was shot on the body or their condition. The Salem County Prosecutor's Office is now handling the investigation.
