Police: Armed suspect robs bank in Northeast Philly

Authorities are asking for the public's assistance in locating an armed man who held up a bank in Northeast Philadelphia.

According to investigators, a man wielding a rifle demanded cash from a bank teller at the Citizens Bank on Rising Sun Avenue in the Burholme section Friday, December 8, a little before 7 p.m.

The suspect received an undisclosed amount of money and left the building, say investigators.

The man then fled the parking lot through a hole in a chain link fence on the bank's property.

Authorities say he was last seen heading west, crossing Oakley Street and heading in the direction of railroad tracks.

The suspect is described as approximately six feet tall and weighing between 180-200 pounds, with a thin build. He was said to be wearing a black ski mask, a black coat, a light gray or white hoodie, jeans and gloves. He was carrying a dark colored duffel bag. The man's weapon was a wood grain rifle with a white strap.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information regarding the suspect or the robbery is asked to call the FBI/PPD Violent Crimes Task Force at 215-418-4000 or a local law enforcement agency. Investigators are offering a reward.
