Delaware County man charged in I-95 road rage shooting

Authorities say a man has been charged in connection with what police are calling a road rage shooting on I-95.

According to State Police, 33-year-old Anthony Thomas Gilbert, from Upper Chichester, fired the shot just before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday in the northbound lanes near the Girard Point Bridge.

Police said that bullet was fired from a black semi-automatic handgun, and it hit the victim's vehicle on the back of the passenger side. Then, the gunman took off and got off 95 at Broad Street (Exit 17).

He was described as 30-40 years old with facial hair, and driving a black 2000s model Chevrolet Impala or Malibu.

Police said someone saw Gilbert's sketch on TV and called them. Then, they tracked him down and arrested him Thursday morning without incident.

Gilbert was charged with Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Possessing Instrument of Crime, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Criminal Mischief.
