Authorities investigate string of pharmacy robberies

Police say they are on the hunt for robbers who have been targeting pharmacies in our area. According to authorities, the string of robberies began in July and continued throughout the summer.

Surveillance video shows a young mom and pharmacy owner diving to the ground as armed men storm her Springfield Township store just over a month ago. In the video, you see a man in the yellow fluorescent vest ditch the crutches and hospital mask he'd worn as a disguise. Police say he pulled a gun and ordered staff to hand over oxy, Xanax and other prescription painkillers. A weapon wielding accomplice follows behind. Employees say the two men used walkie talkies to communicate with a getaway driver as they made off with a bag full of $50,000 worth of meds and more than a $1,000 dollars in cash.

The FBI says the armed gang struck at two other area pharmacies. At a Rite Aide in Claymont, Delaware, in July you can recognize those surgical gloves and mask. The robbers traded up for glasses even a tie at health plus pharmacy in Upper Darby just last month, according to authorities.

Still shaken the young pharmacist asked we not show her face. It was not an easy decision for her to talk on camera. The gunmen are still out there, but she wanted her story out so people will pay attention and help find whoever did this.

"I pray about it every day. Every day is better than the last,' she told FOX 29.
