Biker killed following tornado benefit ride

A woman died over the weekend after riding her motorcycling in a benefit for tornado victims.

Cyndi Garcia was on her way home when she lost control of her bike on southbound Interstate 35 near the President George Bush Turnpike in Lewisville.

Other riders blame road conditions. They say Garcia hit a pot hole and was thrown off her bike.

"I just think that this loss of life was just so unnecessary. She did not deserve to die because people are not getting their jobs done," one of Garcia's friends told FOX 4.

"Because of the conditions of that road, we lost one really loved person and something needs to be done about it. It's as simple as that," added Stephen Knowles.

Garcia was not wearing a helmet.

Friends and fellow riders described Garcia as a loving person who even gave up her own birthday celebrations to help the tornado victims.

The benefit ride she participated in raised more than $30,000 in cash, gift cards and other donations.
