Boy, 10, Hospitalized With Brain Damage After Home was Fumigated

PALM CITY, Fla. - A family is looking for answers after their 10-year-old son was hospitalized with brain damage.

Peyton McCaughey, 10, and his family fell ill after a Terminix subcontractor treated the home for termites last month. The subcontractor told the family they could reenter the home after the two day treatment.

Immediately after returning home, the McCaughey's fell ill, but Peyton still hasn't recovered.

Peyton spent 10 days in intensive care, and was then moved to a hospital where he can receive special care, reports the New York Daily News.

Peyton is now trying to regain control of his limbs and speech. He celebrated his 10 th Birthday in the hospital.

Friends of the family started a GoFundMe page for the little boy, hoping to help the family cover expenses. So far, donors have given over $51,000 to the family.

A spokesperson from Terminix told the New York Daily News that they are reviewing the family's story and are saddened by the turn of events.

The McCaughey's are currently working with a law firm to decide if they will file a lawsuit.
