Man charged in Wounded Warrior Project bike theft

- Police say stolen specialized custom bikes the Wounded Warrior Project planned to give to our injured vets have been recovered, and one person is now in custody.

Tinicum Township police said they got a tip about the person or people involved in last week’s theft of a 16 foot U-Haul truck and its contents from the parking lot of a Tinicum hotel.

They say Philadelphia police conducted surveillance and developed probable cause to file for a search warrant in Northeast Philadelphia.

Wednesday evening, Tinicum and Philadelphia police executed that search warrant in the 4100 block of Stirling Street.

Authorities say officers knocked on the front door and observed a male later identified as 48-year-old male Roy Bowman jump up from the living room and run towards the rear of the property, then stopped after seeing police in the rear of the property.  Bowman was placed under arrest and charged with: theft, receiving stolen property.

According to investigators, recovered during the search were four of the stolen Wounded Warrior bicycles, equipment and parts valued at $8,000.
