Police: Woman's severe stabbing overnight appears domestic, possible suspect ID'd

Police say the woman assaulted in Mount Holly overnight had been stabbed multiple times and her injuries were so severe, she had to be flown to a Level 2 trauma center in Trenton.

That's the word from the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office, which added the 37-year-old is listed in critical condition. The victim has been identified as Shanai Marshall.

They also said, "No arrests have been made. The assault appears to be an incident of domestic violence, and the preliminary investigation has identified a possible suspect."

FOX 29's Lauren Johnson was outside the home on W. Monroe Street. She reported the assault happened at about 12:15am and police came after getting a phone call.

They found her bleeding heavily and had to be flown to Trenton.

Earlier Tuesday morning, police knocked on neighbors' doors, hoping for information.

Meanwhile, neighbors say Shanai Marshall kicked her ex out of the house, but he had been back multiple times in recent weeks. The cousin says Marshall has at least one child with her former lover.
