Burned cat rescued by firefighters in Middletown making progress

A cat found badly burned was rescued by firefighters battling the Valley Fire on Highway 175 near Middletown on Monday.

The cat, was so badly burned on his paws and face, that his eyes were crusted shut when he was brought to the Wasson Memorial Veterinary Clinic in Lakeport.

Veterinarian Chris Holmes told KTVU that the male cat is being fed through a stomach tube and has improved in the last 24 hours.

The cat is even beginning to open his eyes and is expected to make a full recovery.

It is believed that the cat is someone's pet because he is very friendly and purrs for attention.

The clinic is hopeful that he can be reunited with his owners.
