George Washington High School lockdown lifted after threatening photo surfaces

A lockdown at George Washington High School in Bustleton has been lifted after police say an alarming photo was brought to the attention of school officials.

Police say a photo surfaced of a student holding two rifles, and a female student reported receiving death threats from a male student.

The male student who was reported to school officials was at the school, according to police, and was located at his home after the lockdown went into place around 2 p.m.

The male student is in police custody and the lockdown was lifted just before 3 p.m.

George Washington High School released the following statement:
"We take the safety of our students and staff very seriously. Earlier today George Washington High School was placed on a precautionary lockdown due to 911 calls placed. While part of the calls were unfounded, a student was found to have posted inappropriate content on social media. When the school was determined to be safe, the lockdown was lifted and students were dismissed from school. The School District is fully cooperating with the Philadelphia Police Department as part of this ongoing investigation."
