Chester Police investigate a shooting in which an elderly woman was shot

Chester Police are investigating a shooting of a 70-year-old woman Friday, November 3.

Chester Police responded to what was initially a shots fired call. The call came after 9:30 p.m. Police said the call was upgraded to a shooting victim call while they were on their way. Upon arrival of a residence at the 900 block of Lamokin Street, police found that a 70-year-old woman had been shot in the leg.

According to authorities, the woman told police she got off a bus at 9th and Lamokin Streets and walked north on Lamokin Street. She told police she heard the gun shots and felt pain in her leg. She said she called 911 from her residence a short distance away.

Investigators said she was transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where she was treated for the wound. She is listed in good condition.
