Convicted felon sings Adele-like 'sorry' to court judge

A convicted felon broke into song in Washtenaw County court last week.

Brian Earl Taylor, 21, began singing "I'm sorry" while being sentenced for unlawful imprisonment and carrying a concealed weapon by Judge Darlene O'Brien at a March 10 hearing.

The song seemed inspired by the song "Hello" by Adele.

"Hello there," Taylor sang, "your honor, I want to say I'm sorry for the things I've done and I'll try and be stronger. In this life I've chose I want you to know, that door I closed.

"Your honor, I'm sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry."

He then repeated the line to his mother and the victim, before closing with "Thank you, your honor."

Taylor was discovered by police at Peninsular Place Apartments in Ypsilanti holding a gun to the stomach of another man.

An ex-con previously convicted of larceny, Taylor said now he wants to pursue a business degree at Eastern Michigan University. But O'Brien said he should take advantage of prison programs to achieve his goals and sentenced Taylor to two years in prison for illegally carrying a concealed weapon and 18 months to 15 years for unlawful imprisonment.

He has a previous conviction for larceny and will also be back in court in Washtenaw County for a new charge of stealing or retaining a financial transaction device without consent.
