Fire rips through East Norriton home, leaving father in hospital

- A father is in the hospital after a fire ripped right through this Montgomery County home on Saturday afternoon.

It happened on the 3100 block of Sycamore Lane around 2 p.m. The fire was placed under control at 2:47 p.m.

The Fire Marshal on scene said the house was a total loss.

“When the first engine arrived, there was heavy fire shooting from the garage,” Fire Marshall Frank Ludwig told Fox 29. “And one resident was trapped inside.”

Neighbors watched in fear, as the homeowner went back inside at the height of the blaze.

“Apparently the resident ran back in when police arrived on location,” Fire Marshall Ludwig said. “They removed him once and he ran back in a second time.”

According to the fire Marshall, the homeowner suffered serious burns and was transported to Crozier Chester Medical Center.

Witnesses say the man's teenage daughter ran from the smoky fire carrying a family pet. She was not hurt.

Work crews were boarding up broken windows and covering gaping holes in the roof late Saturday. Neighbors are hoping the victim will be okay.

One firefighter was hurt. He suffered a wrist injury.

No word yet on the homeowner's condition.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
