4-alarm fire at Overbrook church placed under control

Emergency crews are on the scene of a four-alarm fire at a church in the city's Overbrook neighborhood, which is finally under control after about two hours.

The fire broke out at about 9am at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, which is on the 6400 block of Lansdowne Avenue. About five different congregations use the century-old church.

SKYFOX was over the scene as crews battled the flames, which went up to four alarms.

You can see flames shooting from the church's front door and side windows, and heavy black smoke pouring from the roof.

A FOX 29 News crew on the ground called it "dark as night with all the smoke."
