Crews rescue man from sewer in Hunting Park

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) Crews were on the scene of 9th and West Pike Street in Hunting Park where a man was stuck in a sewer.

It happened shortly before 6 p.m. Friday. SkyFOX flew over the scene where the extensive search was underway. The man was rescued around 7:30 p.m. Friday.

"Somehow he was ended up in the sewer hole. We don't know how he wound up there-- the cover was removed --we don't know how," said police officer Bill Hill.

The man, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital to be checked out and evaluated.
The rescue personnel were being decontaminated after their successful sewer pipe rescue.
