Del. State Police investigate tractor trailer crash

Christiana, Del. (WTXF)- Delaware State Police are investigating a crash involving an overturned tractor trailer.

The crash happened on Wednesday shortly before noon in the southbound area of the Christiana Mall.

According to State Police, the crash occurred as Paul M. Taylor, 52, of Montrose, West Virginia, was operating a 2007 Kenworth tractor trailer loaded with dog food, and was traveling on the ramp from I-95 southbound onto SR1 southbound, Newark.  State Police say Taylor lost control of the truck which then overturned onto its left side blocking the left lane and left shoulder of SR1 just north of the Christiana Mall exit.
Taylor was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where he was treated for his minor injuries. The driver was cited by troopers with careless driving, according to State Police.
As a result of the cleanup efforts currently underway from the crash, the ramp to SR1 southbound from I-95 southbound is closed, as is SR1 southbound at DE Rt. 7.
Commuters are asked to find alternate routes of travel and should expect heavy traffic in the area. The closures are expected to last until approximately 7:00 p.m.
