Delaware man, 18, arrested for assaulting acquaintance with an axe in his home

Newark Police have arrested 18-year-old Brandon Bryant for assaulting a man in his home with an axe.

On Thursday around 2 p.m., officers responded to the Newark Emergency Center for a report of an assault victim that was being treated there.

Upon their arrival, officers spoke with the 21-year-old victim, who reported that he was visiting a friend on White Clay Drive when he was suddenly attacked by Bryant.

The victim stated that Bryant was in possession of an axe and that he was injured in his left arm and the back of his head. The victim was transferred to Christiana Hospital, where he received multiple staples to close his wounds and was later released.

The victim was allegedly able to take the axe away from the suspect, ending the attack. Officers later recovered the suspected axe in question in a wooded area near where the assault occurred

Bryant later voluntarily responded to the Newark Police Department and was arrested without incident. After his arraignment, Bryant was released on a $30,000 unsecured bond. He has been charged with Assault 1st Degree and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony.
