NEW CASTLE, DE (WTXF) - The Delaware National Guard is going to honor the late Beau Biden by naming the Delaware National Guard Headquarters after him.
New signs for the “Major Joseph R. “Beau” Biden III National Guard/Reserve Center” will be unveiled at a ceremony on Monday, which will be Memorial Day.
Members of Beau Biden’s family, including Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden, will attend.
Beau Biden was a former Delaware attorney general, and a major in the Delaware Army National Guard.
He served as a judge advocate general in several units of assignment. In 2008, Biden deployed to Iraq for a year as a member of the 261st Theater Tactical Signal Brigade and earned the Bronze Star.
Biden died of brain cancer in May, 2015. He received the Legion of Merit and the Delaware Conspicuous Service Cross posthumously.
The Delaware National Guard Headquarters is located at 250 Airport Road in New Castle. It opened in August, 2014.
