Dog missing for over a year rescued after being stuck in storm drain

Animal services officers and firefighters in Montgomery County have rescued a dog that was stuck in a storm drain in Bethesda.

The 30-pound dog was trapped in the drain pipe Friday afternoon at a residential neighborhood in the 7800 block of Lonesome Pine Lane.

Firefighters used a powered hand saw to cut open the metal bars to get access into the drain before retrieving the dog.

Animal services located the dog's owner Friday evening. The male Wheaten Terrier named Cookie has been missing from Kensington since October of last year, according to Pete Piringer, spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.
