HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (WTXF) - Authorities in Hamilton Township, New Jersey have charged a driver in a crash that killed a 13-year-old pedestrian early Thursday morning.
Police say 34-year-old Mauricio Velastegui was traveling in his 1998 Toyota Rav4 northbound on Nottingham Way near Gregory Drive when he struck the victim.
Investigators say they determined the teenage victim was riding his skateboard along the curb of Nottingham Way when Velastegui crossed the double yellow lines in the road and struck him.
The victim was taken to Capital Health where he was pronounced dead.
Velastegui was charged with death by auto.
The investigation is ongoing.
